Bridging Piles

Case Study

This development is located at the golf course in Robina close to the Gold Coast Highway and Robina Railway Station. It is in a picturesque spot on the lakeside overlooking the golf course. Three huge 3 storey "quadplexes" had been planned which would each contain 4 large apartments.

The sewerage and storm water pipes run along the edge of the lake and the building will go above them. To prevent the weight of the building crushing the pipes, a bridging system was designed. Piles are located on either side of the pipes and founded below the invert level of the pipes. A connecting footing created a bridge that the building can rest on, allowing the weight to rest on the ground beneath the pipes. This also allows work to be carried out on the pipes at a later date if required.
